reverse internal looping
Reported by scrag | September 28th, 2009 @ 04:59 AM
Setting up internal loops that run in reverse is no longer possible: previously, this could be achieved in the same way as a forward internal loop, except by pressing a later button in the row followed by an earlier button.
Pressing button 7, then 3, would cause the loop to run 7 6 5 4 -> 7 6 5 4 etc.
Pressing button 8 then 1 would cause button 8 to loop.

i don't believe this was ever possible, nor do i think it would be particular useful or easy to implement.
if you would like to program it, or find a max patcher w/ the skills i'd be more than happy to include it in the main release.

You are - of course right - I've just checked this out; I guess I was thinking of another mlr version. Apologies.
What was previously possible in mlrV (verified in the original _mlrV.maxpat dated 10/12/08 and in the mlr-enjoi release dated 12/4/09) was looping whatever part of the sample fell on the last button in a row.
This I did by pushing button eight (I have a 40h) then button one - really just an internal loop of button eight. What was interesting was that the instead of button eight blinking steadily as any other button would do, the buttons lit up in reverse order - 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 8 7 6 5... etc. etc.
I've attached a demo.
I realise that this is - at best - questionably useful, but given that it was there before, I'm assuming it's not something you'd need to program from scratch. It seems like it might even have been intentional at some point - any button in a row can be set to trigger repetitively by pressing that button and then the next one, with the exception of the last button.
I'd be grateful if you'd consider looking in to it!
