no red play marker
Reported by vinceent | February 4th, 2009 @ 03:54 PM
hi, ive been using mrlv for a week or so and love it. when reading the documentation ive noticed there was something that wasnt working properly. im getting no red play marker as the slice is played. is that a known bug or i just missed a synching detail? im also getting:transport: doesn't understand "clocksource" in the max window when pressing start. it is preceeded by:sfrecord~: start requested without preceeding 'open'
i was also wondering if the +v insert was available for download
thanks

hi vinceent!
glad you like mlrV - it makes all the hard work worth it!
i'm not sure why you are not getting a red playback market, though it may have to do with selecting the monome in the monome-chooser (bottom-right of screen) - try selecting your monome size again.
are you on windows? it may be a compatibility problem that i didn't know of.
the 'clocksource' message has to do with midi-sync. there was a problem with the patch at first where i had connected the wrong outlet of the 'source' button. this has been fixed as of the most recent version - please make sure you have the most current version.
if you do have the most current version let me know and i will double check what the problem is and see if there is another way to fix it.
the "start requested without preceeding 'open'" happens when using the audio recorder. you first need to hit 'save' and create a filename for your audio recording. after this is done you then hit 'start' and the audio file will be written directly to your HD.
finally, the '+v' insert is as yet unavailable as i have programmed only a small part of it, and it has no proper GUI yet. indeed you still need full version of MaxMSP at the moment just to make it run. hopefully it will be released at some point, but this will probably not be for many months.
i hope these responses have helped! please let me know of your OS and mlrV version number though.

thanks for the quick response galapagoose
i was already selecting my monome 64 so this is not the problem. i am on mac os x 10.5.6 i got the lastest version of mlrv
(?)
thanks for the recorder explanation
i ve been using MaxMSP in university and for personnal projects. last year i bought Max 5 so i got the full version i will keep looking at the patch to try to pinpoint the problem
i would be curious to see how you work the video with the +v insert
if you ever need help, just ask. i only have a monome since a week but made several projects with maxmsp&jitter.
(the main reason i got the monome was to do some simultaneous audio and visual action, so the mlrv+v type-o-controlling is exactly the direction im going towards)
