Request? Delay and inserts
Reported by Axolotl | February 12th, 2009 @ 02:19 PM
Hello, My request, would be removing the integrated delay. Cant it be added as an insert? Then the button that is now used to turn on delay could be used for whichever insert. Could route audio through insert patch and back to mlrV's main channel? A stutter insert such as in the Repeat version of mlr could be added or pitch shift and others. No idea if it would slow the application down but would be nice to have more customization.

i agree axolotl, that more custumization is a favourable thing, but i don't think removing one of the (in my opinion) most expressive parts of mlrV is the solution.
i can see that if someone has only a 40h / 64 it could be frustrating to not have any buttons that can be reprogrammed out of the box, but if you really do not use the delay function, it is incredibly easy to modify mlrV to use that button a different way.
if you want to program some alternative functionality i can post up a walkthrough on how to change the button response of that button, but i can't program all the changes myself. i scarcely have the time to make any music!
let me know if you would like some help with getting started on the modification.

open mlrV enter patching mode open [p box] by double clicking it => found in bottom of patcher in yellow unlock the patcher
in the centre of the patch there is [r mmodel] follow this patch downwards and look at the left outlet of [gate 2] there should be a [route 6 7] object the first outlet [6] is the 2nd last button in the first row the second outlet [7] is the last button in the first row
you will see [7] attached to [s dlybyp] which controls the on/off status of the delay. simply delete the patch cord connecting to this object and create your own [s MYFXNAME] to have access to that button in your subpatch.
led feedback is controlled in the normal way by sending a message in the (x, y, state) format to an object called [s mlr/led]. the coordinate for this button is (7 0 0) for off and (7 0 1) for on.
hope this helps..
PS. if you want to use tilt functionality for your effect you will need to look into [global.maxpat] and [mlrdelay.maxpat], for how to use it.
