record from ext app (ableton) via rewire
Reported by Alrick | October 1st, 2009 @ 04:14 AM
hello! thank you enjoi to share this incredible version of mlrV!
i got a problem when i'm trying to record loop from external app (like ableton live). in older versions of mlrV, i was able to select soundflower 7+8 channels (for exemple) to route audio from ableton to mlrv.
now, with rewire, i don't know how to proceed. i just got the choice of a number (from 0 to 16) into mlrV, and when i click master button on the left side, and select 7+8, nothing comes into mlrVrecorder.
cheers

unfortunately the current rewire implementation only allows mlrv to send audio to ableton.
if you want to receive audio back into mlrv via rewire there is a great deal more effort required to allow this to happen.right now i don't have the time for such an overhaul, so i would suggest sticking with your soundflower implementation which should still work just as well as it previously did (albeit without the simple '1 big button' that rewire now has)

ok thanks for answering so quickly! the only main I have without rewire is to reconfigure mlrV each time i run it. is there a way to change the mlrV defaut settings (midi clock input, innerloop activation/desactivation, etc. ...) when i launch it ?
cheers

in the newest version of mlrv there is a button in the main 'mlr' tab (bottom right) that says 'click here to save'. after you select the midi clock + innerloop settings you desire, just click that button and next time you open mlrv it should load up with the same settings
NB: only works for the tabbed settings system (doesn't do things like channel routing, volumes etc.)
