Sample changes take effect immediately

Reported by nonagon / two_masks | December 7th, 2008 @ 12:55 PM

I noticed that changes to sample playback settings (e.g. octave, forward/reverse, etc) take effect immediately for samples that are currently playing. Older versions of mlr wouldn't "commit" changes until the next button press for that sample, allowing the user to change settings in the background without affecting currently playing samples. I very much prefer this old behavior.

this was a stylistic choice. my reasoning being that oct/rev changes are almost exclusively set before a performance and having changes take effect immediately would aid in faster demoing of sounds and having 2 hands free for the computer when you are changing it.

perhaps noone agrees with me. in this case i would be happy to add a switch to stop the update occurring (it currently doesn't update until a new button press when changing presets) - it would be quite simple.

to make room for yet another GUI switch i'm considering removing the 'show-hide' grid button.

A switch would be fantastic, for my purposes at least. I tend to pitch things up and down while I'm improvising, e.g. to get an instant double-time feel.

Thanks for all your hard work!
